You never know what will happen when you share your thoughts with others.

A few days ago, I received a Facebook message from a friend.

Hi Walt, I was reading my “Advantages”* magazine and there was an article by you! The editor even spoke about you in her article. Congratulations!

Whoa! Someone, that I recently met at an event in October and friended on Facebook, came across an article that I wrote and she made the connection that the author was someone she knew. Not only that, she read the editorial and the editor was influenced by the article enough to connect her thoughts to mine. I was thrilled. I share how good this made me feel to inspire you to share your thoughts.

Look what I foundWhen you start speaking and spreading your message, do not be so focused on your techniques that you don’t listen to the people who receive and resonate with your message.

When I started speaking in Toastmasters contests, I tended to focus more on the result on the contest, not the number of people coming up to me after the contest and saying how much of an impact my message had on them.

When I do the radio show, I am tempted to focus on the number of listeners/downloads, not the number of people who go out of their way to let me know they listened to the show and were inspired and then took action on what they heard.

Whether you speak or write, take action. Deliver your message. Get it out there some way. You can make a difference.

Share your thoughts. You never know.
