Sharing my accomplishments from the past year at the Lady and the Champs Speaker Conference

This past weekend, I attended the Lady and the Champs Speaker Conference in Las Vegas.

It was at my first Lady and the Champs in Feb 2008 that I realized that the only thing keeping me from being able to speak is my fear. I felt great being at the same conference, five years later, a changed person … Walt 2.0

In addition to learning insights into the business and art of speaking, I renewed old acquaintances and made new ones.

On Friday, at the EDGENET summit (for members of the Champions EDGE community) that precedes the two day conference, we were invited to share significant accomplishments from the past year.

Without hesitation, I lined up to speak. When it was my turn, I went on stage and shared two things:

  • that I have a radio show
  • and that sent my book to the editor the day before

I was a little nervous but I doubt that it showed. That simple act of standing up and speaking up, of sharing what I was doing in front of a group of like-minded people, resulted in several people introducing themselves to me. Some people had experience in radio, others in interviewing. I also found about a dozen guests for the radio show.

Many of my mentors talk about the importance of just showing up. Others say never turn down stage time. I showed up, took advantage of the stage time and had a fantastic weekend.
